Analysis econometric of rural extension role in food production in Goiás in 2017

Abstract


Technical assistance and rural extension services are of utmost importance to ensure small producers in food production. The objective of this work is to verify econometrically the role of rural extension on the production of some foods that make up the consumer's basic basket (banana, milk, cassava and egg) in the state of Goiás in 2017. The methodology used was the analysis of regression and correlation to verify the relationship between rural extension and food production. The results showed that of the foods selected for the research, the one that obtained the highest correlation coefficient was the milk production in relation to the rural extension, considering that one of the greatest demands of technical assistance and rural extension services in Goiás is milk. The regression results for the four models showed the low representativeness of the rural extension in the state, the coefficient of determination, which indicates the adjustment of the observations in relation to the estimated regression line, for all estimates were low. Therefore, it is concluded that rural extension and technical assistance in the state of Goiás represent a major challenge, especially for small farmers that derive from this service and the need to formulate new policies aimed at food production.
